1. Which Trophies are Awarded for What?


Ken Miller Player of the Year – Mens/Ladies

Presented to the most consistent male and female players of the season.

Donated by former long time player, Sports Club manger and Hockey Club President Ken Miller.

Bob Greatorex – Team of the Year

Purchased in memory of long time club treasurer Bob Greatorex ,whose wife and children have and still are playing for the club. It is presented to the team (Ladies or Mens), who are considered to have performed the most consistently during the season.

Dowlis Trophy – Performance of the Year

Donated by one of our former sponsors for the best one-off team performance (Ladies or Mens) during the season.

Ron Cooksey Progress Cup – Mens and Ladies

Presented by long time goalkeeper and Chairman of the Grounds, Ron Cooksey, to the two young players who show the most progress during the season.

Ken Miller Colt of the Year

Presented to the most improved under 18 male and player of the season.

Simon Morley Trophy Female Colt of the Year

Presented to the most improved under 18 female and player of the season. Presented by Simon’s family after his untimely death at the age of 52 in October 2009. Simon was a lower team player and staunch club tourer and very popular Club member who played in the 80’s at AHC.

Ian Maloney Lower XI Player of the Year

Purchased by club members in memory of 5th XI player Ian Maloney who died at a young age and played his hockey for the 5th XI. The cup is presented to the lower XI male player of the year, normally the 4ths or 5ths.

Maria Taylor Enthusiasm Trophy

Donated by Maria’s family in memory of a very enthusiastic left winger come goalkeeper who died in her early twenties. It is presented to the most enthusiastic member of the Ladies section.

Jubilee Plate

The Club’s most prestigious trophy was given by the Ashford Sports Club to mark the Hockey Club’s 50th Anniversary in 1970. It is awarded to the member(s) of the Mens and/or Ladies section for services rendered to the Hockey club during the year. The plate was retired at the end of the 2013/14 season due to there being no more space left for the engraving of winner’s names. It is now on permanent display in the Clubhouse.

Bar team of the Year

Donated by hard working non playing member Keith Nash for the best volunteer bar helpers (Ladies or Men's) during the season.
