Ladies summer League final
After 36 League games, the final was played on Tuesday 18th July between last year's finalists Chertsey/Thames Valley and Ashford Armadillos. In a very competitive game Ashford managed to contain the experienced visitors and go ahead 2-0 with goals from Emily Bashford and Jackie Parsons. However, Chertsey/Thames Valley were never going to give and their star player and top scorer Kerly managed to get two goals back to even up the game and keep the crowd enthralled. Both teams wanted to win very much, but it was star defender Cal Antell who got the winner when she calmly converted a short corner with one of her trade mark shots to win the cup for Ashford Armadillos. Both teams celebrated after and credit is due to the visitors who outstayed the Red and Black players in the bar after. Thanks are due to League organiser, Ashford Fixture Secretary Kate Thompson, Chris Howkins and his crew of umpires, all the competing teams and their umpires, and finally Claire Brant and Emma Bashford -Hynes for organising the Ashford teams. Well done all.
