Ladies summer League

Five teams took part in the very enjoyable, friendly and yet competitive AHC Ladies summer League, meant for lower teams. AHC Antelopes, BA Hayes Ladies Hockey, Chertsey Thames Valley Hockey Club, Staines Hockey Club & Sunbury & Walton Hawks took part, with each team playing each other twice. As in 2018, BA Hayes set the pace at the top of the League, whilst the others battled it out to gain second place and get into the final. It went down to the wire, with the last league game results allowing the home side Antelopes to sneak in to play BA Hayes - just! The final was a ding dong affair, with the Red & Blacks catching BA Hayes rather flat footed, scoring 3 goals (Nicky Davis & Jade Johnson x 2) in the opening 15 minutes. The holders weren't about to give up their hold on the Trophy, though & pulled 2 goals back quickly and by half time they were 4-3 up! The score then moved to 5-4 to BA Hayes, only for AHC to equalise to make it 5-5. The large vociferous crowd were now cheering wildly for both teams, only for BA Hayes to snatch a winner and retain the trophy by virtue of their 6-5 win - what a goal fest ??.

Congratulations to Nikki Farley and the rest of the BA Hayes squad, who duly celebrated after, along with the home team. Thanks are due to AHC organisers Claire Brant and Charmers Gregg, all the other participating teams organisers and players, and of course the Umpires.
