Ashford Thrash Staines 14-0

Ashford men’s first XI continued their good form with a 14-0 victory away at local rivals Staines.

Ashford started extremely quickly, nicking the ball off the Staines defence to create an opportunity within the first 30 seconds. After a couple of stops by the Staines Goalkeeper, the ball eventually came out to Rob Crackles on his favourable reverse side and he smashed the ball top corner, giving AHC the lead within the opening minute of the game. Another two quick goals followed, with good work down the left hand side by Shujah ur Rehman, who’s shot across goal was tapped home by Alex Betts at the back post. Rehman soon added his name to the score sheet, with a trademark tricky run and finish, giving the visitors a 3 goal lead in the opening 3 minutes.

The game settled down, slightly, and Ashford had to wait another 6 minutes to add to lead. This time it was the marauding run of Jamie Hemphrey, who burst through the Staines defence and unleashed a thunderous shot into the corner of the goal.

Staines were hugely deflated by the free scoring visitors, and Ashford ran out 14-0 winners, with Shujah ur Rehman finished getting 4 goals, Jamie Hemphrey and Alex Betts on 3 goals each, Andrew Whiting got a brace, with Patrick Fisher and Rob Crackles getting one a piece.
