1s take their first Away win

Away to Oxford this weekend the 1s pipped their first away win.

Very early in the game a solo effort by Siyabonga Martins leaving a trail of beached players in his wake including the Oxford custodian saw him simply tap the ball into an open goal.

The Red and Black Army first unit playing to structure and plan, bossed most of the game and were able to sit back and soak up what little pressure was on offer from the oppo. So it wasn't long before a well worked pc routine saw the lead doubled.

Almost as if the game was going too well centre back Charles Cottrell - with two minutes left in the half and leading two goals up - decided to take a quick defensive free hit gifting the ball to the oppo's forwards, luckily Red and Black custodian Adam Huse was up to the task, thanking the team for his involvement with a great save.

The second half saw more of the same discipline from the Red and Black Army playing through phases with admirable game management. Picking out the oppo's left back as the weakest link, AHC managed to create at least three clear cut chances where Rob Short, Piers du Boulay and Olly Coombe saw their changes go a begging.

Oxford eventually found their sea legs (in the torrential down pour) and mounted a barrage of useful attacks, all faced down by Adam, including a cannon from the top of the circle through a crowd heading for the top right that was made to look like the most pedestrian of attempts as it was turned over the bar.

Despite another Cottrell rush of blood this time at the other end - when Luke took a quick free hit two minutes from full time on the attacking 23, coughing up the ball to the oppo who couldn't manage to make anything out of the blunder - the game finished a 2-0 win and looking like promising things.

The Red and Balck Army defends home ground Nov 2nd in a mid table clash against OMT at high noon.
