Chalk up another 3

This weekend was filled with positives first in the 1s. The Red an Black Army took its first 3 points and Shujah ur Rehman took the top of the leaderboard as the all time leading goal scorer at Ashford Hockey Club Middlesex.

The game was played at a very commendable pace and both teams had their share of success.

A double by the ever dependable Shujah, from the penalty corner routines, a debut double from teen Joe Chapman, composed in open play, and a single to open his account at Ashford from Siyabonga Martins made certain the points stayed at home.

Early in the game an oppo forward eased away from his marker for a simple tap in at the back post, but after that momentary lapse all other goals came from the gifted penalty corners.

Next week the Red and Back army have an away double header, travelling to Oxford on Sat and then to Henley on Sunday for the first tie of the EH Men's Championship.
