Unlucky

Eight games into the season and the Red and Black Army has been undefeated at home. No surprise then when this weekend we exchanged punches with League leaders Reading there was nothing to separate the teams at the final whistle.

A much more deliberate and purposeful unit the 1s took the field against a fast well disciplined Reading Unit. And to the visitors dread, they found themselves matched in all departments.

The stalwart tackling of Luke Cottrell; the ball wizardry from Shujah ur Rehman, Siyabonga Martins, and Matt Law; the disciplined and intelligent application of the press from Piers du Boulay and Joe Chapman ( yes I just referred to Joe Chapman as both disciplined and intelligent - make your peace with the creator the world's time is short); added to the tireless and self less legs from Olly Coombe, Matt Sutch and Skipper Charles Cottrell; was anchored by Adam 'Huge' Huse.

The fact then that the two goals, were team goals from flowing moves easily shredding the Reading press and finished by self less goal mouth passes (although one would argue that Siya did not need to help the ball in) should not surprise anyone following the Red and Black Army this season.

The 1s are home again this weekend against Witney... come lift the boys to another home defense and stretch the undefeated run!
