AHC 2s up against it...

Losing over half the squad due to availability, AHC 2s kick started their season with a testing fixture against SWW 2s. Our newly promoted Surrey Area – Division 2 rivals play at a slightly higher standard so we knew we would be up against it. The final score is a very harsh reflection on the teams efforts with the majority of their goals coming from unfortunate deflections. We largely defended well as a unit putting into practice a new whole team press for this season. Centre backs Matt Sutch and James Maitland were both close contenders for MoM with Sutch just edging it by a single vote on the day.

I am still very optimistic for the coming season and even in the face of adversity, our team held strong against a well drilled SWW side. Many positives came from the game as we learnt a lot as individuals and as a team. Next week we take on an equally strong Bracknell 1s side with the hope to further improve before the season starts on Saturday 3rd October.
