Woeful against West Hampstead

With the league split open with the lower teams getting results in the last two weeks, Ashford found themselves in 12th place on 4 points against an 8th place West Hampstead side on 6 points. West Hampstead went ahead early from a weak turn and push into the bottom corner through an Ashford strong stick. Ashford came back fighting with a scorching run from Ryan Holland finding Crab Hands who then set up Matt Emmerton on the edge of the D to reverse slap the ball high into the goal. The keeper was left flopping around on the floor as the ball kissed the underside of the bar. Again following a great run from Ryan Holland, he picked out a pass to the emerging CB Billy Bassett to finish with a sweet reverse strike across goal hitting the post on the way in. Matt Emmerton tried to steal the goal on the back post but the bouncing ball proved too much and the goal was awarded to Bilbo.

West Hampstead continued to come back against us and grabbed some quick goals. Before we knew it we found ourselves 2-5 down deep into the second half. Bored or his defensive efforts diving around at the back taking out small children, Billy Bassett stepped up and converted two power puff pushes high into their goal. He celebrated in style to the delight of the crowd as his Miss Billy looked on with pride. With the game at 4-5 we continued to push on but inevitably ran out of time. The game ended as another loss to the Ashford side making it 5 games on the bounce.

Our next two games against low riders OMT and Thame in the league are now even more important and are vital for us to grab some much needed points. Both teams failed to pick up points at the weekend as Ashford remain on 4 with both OMT and Thame sitting just out of the relegation spot on 5 points.
