After a home fixture Ashford 3's found themselves back on the road looking to keep their unbeaten run going.
This week was against Oxford and in playing conditions that would have been better for a water polo team. Despite Ashford attempts to get the game going they frequently found themselves blocked by Oxford who made it difficult to break their high press.
Thankfully a solid Ashford backline prevented Oxford making any headway.
After finally breaking the Oxford line Ashford started to make inroads and persistence finally paid off when Chris Taylor struck from a short corner to give Ashford the lead.
Halftime however saw Oxford come with renewed vigor finally being able to put some shots at the Ashford goal eventually turning one in via a deflection to end a run of over 250 minutes without conceding!
Oxford were eager to capitalise on their equaliser but great defending and goalkeeping meant Ashford were fighting to the end.
With minutes left to go Ashford went on the attack with Chris Taylor winning a short. With no time left Ashford struck with another Chris Taylor short corner to end a very hard win and send Ashford top of the table.
