10 nil run out to end the first half

The final match before Christmas for the 3s certainly turned out to be a jolly affair and the ideal present for the 1st half of the season.

Aylesbury were the opponents and in a bizarre quirk they forget their away shirts so had to borrow spare Ashford away kits. For Aylesbury that was the first bad moment in a bad afternoon.

Straight from the off Ashford were relentless. Skillful passing and movement tore the Aylesbury defence apart and shots rained down on the Aylesbury goal. The first goal soon followed and faster than you can blink Ashford were soon running away with the match.

Nathan George and James Bashford combined well up front and David Merchant almost danced through the Aylesbury defence to get his goal. The match was soon turning into a turkey shoot with everyone trying to get their names on the scoresheet.

By half time it was 6-0 Ashford with Aylesbury lucky not to have conceded more.

If this were a boxing match, the towel would have been thrown in.

At the start of the 2nd half the ed and Black Army kept their composure and kept Aylesbury on the back foot. Before long Nathan had his hat trick as did James. David soon had his brace as well and Paul Tickner popped up to get in on the action.

Aylesbury barely mustered a threat on the Ashford goal, so David Baker and Eliot Symes moved up from defence to attack in an attempt to get on the scoresheet but to no avail despite Eliot praying for divine inspiration.

Nathan George began rubbing salt in the wounds of Aylesbury when he bagged his fourth goal (it could have been more if not for a glaring one on one miss that went over the bar).

The final whistle could not come soon enough for a shell shocked Aylesbury. When it did happen it was an astonishing 10-0 win for the 3s that keeps them top of the table.

The 1st half of the season has seen a dramatic evolution in the players of the 3s. Results are not only fantastic but teamwork is excellent, every player continues to develop and the squad is playing with a degree of confidence and passion that I don't think I have seen before.

Every player should look back with pride on what they have achieved in the 1st half of the season and I can't wait to see what the team will do in the New Year.
