3s remain unbeaten

The third outing of the season saw a top of the table clash between Ashford 3's and Thame 2's, both teams having conceded a solitary goal between them all season.

Ashford saw a welcome return for Shane Smith and a final appearance for David Eastbury (aka Crab Hands) before a move away in this fixture.

Both teams got stuck into the game from the off but solid defending from both sides meant few clear chances. Ashford went in search of short corners but failed to find the target and Shane Smith's flick at goal from a good position could only find the keepers pads. At the other end a timely Lewis Baber intervention prevented a Thame tap in at the back post. The half, however, saw an untimely end to David Baker's game with a hamstring injury.

The second period saw more of the same as the battle of attrition continued.

Thame thought they had scored from a short corner but it was ruled out due to the initial strike being above the back board. At the other end Ashford kept pressure on the Thame D but some goalmouth scrambles turned to no avail.

The end of the game saw Ashford a bit short in numbers at the back due to the sin binning of Nku Davis but once again the Ashford team dynamic saw the squad hold firm with Jimmy Berressem seemingly chasing down every effort to ensure the points were shared and Ashford's clean sheet run extended to 3 games.
