Fighting spirit

After last week's rout of Maidenhead it was a trip to Wycombe for the 3s facing off a side that were high scoring and unbeaten at home.

Ashford got off to a flying start and soon found themselves 2-0 within the first 10 mins with goals from Chris Lunn and David Merchant. Wycombe though were able to get one back from a short corner.

The 2nd half saw us quickly regain a two goal lead when Chris Taylor slotted in from a penalty corner. Wycombe however found another gear soon after that and were able to make serious threats to the Ashford goal drawing level with two quickfire goals.

The Wycombe threat was becoming evermore present but thanks to Stef Gorton the majority of the attacks were snuffed out and quickly turned into counters. The game, end to end by this stage, and then Wycombe pounced on an over extended Ashford line to put themselves 4-3 up.

The 3's though were not to be beaten and kept fighting.

In the last minute, squeaky bum time, David Merchant found himself in the right half of the D and was able to offload the ball, before being flattened by the Wycombe keeper. The Ashford shot that followed the offload was struck and heading into the goal before it struck a Wycombe player on the line.

Penalty flick!

Up stepped Stef who with great calmness put the ball away to seal a 4-4 draw and preserve the 3's unbeaten run.
