Summer league

The 21st AHC ladies' summer league was contested by five teams, namely Ashford, Chertsey/Thames Valley (C/TV), Hayes Allsorts, Staines and Sunbury Walton Hawks (SWH), over ten weeks during May, June and July. After each team had played eight games the top two in the league were C/TV & SWH who contested the final. In front of a fairly large and boisterous crowd SWH dominated most of the play in the first half and were 1-0 up by half time. They struck early in the second half to go 2-0 up, but cheered on by their supporters C/TV rallied and pulled a goal back and piled on the pressure on the SWH goal as they attempted to grab an equaliser; only for SWH to breakaway and get a third goal to win 3-1. It was the first time SWH had won the trophy, so they duly celebrated after the presentations.

Thanks are due to all the teams who took part, the many umpires and Neil Smith for helping with assessing the AHC umpires. However, the biggest thanks is due to the league organiser Claire Brant, who not only ran the league, but also the AHC team! Many thanks from all Claire.
