Ashford Ladies 3s were up against a young well, organised team. Driven from the midfield by a very good experienced player. Surrey Spartans dominated from the start scoring four in the first half and three in the second. The whole of the Ashford team gave all they had and left everything on the pitch. The team's makeup meant that we had to rotate and some players had to play in unfamiliar positions. While this is not ideal in a game situation it is nevertheless great experience for our colts and newer players.
Many thanks to Eva and Hannah Lloyd who, having played earlier for the twos, doubled up at short notice and travelled to Guilford to do it all again for us with Hannah ending her day at A&E. We all wish her a speedy recovery.
The overall score though didn't reflect the heroics of Ashford's player of the match. Charlotte in goal produced a series of eye-catching saves, putting into practice all she has learnt in Monday's goalkeeper training (not sure where she learnt to head the ball!)
