Backs to the wall, balls to the face

AHC 2s came up against a very strong Amersham & Chalfont side at The Lane. The travelling side started strong but Ashford managed to get the first goal of the game against the run of play. Two Croxon attempts to put the ball over the grounded keeper before Nathan came in with the overhead volley. Caught on camera in stunning 144p.

Ashford tried to maintain this dominant position with young Jack Barber keeping us in the game with stunning save after save. A thunderbastard strike from a PC and a well worked team goal saw the visitors head into half time 1-2 up.

With the words of our coach Nku Davis in our ears, we went into the second half with the aim to protect the ball with better outcomes in the final third. Unfortunately the only protection on show was Jacks helmet as Amersham & Chalfont continued peppering the AHC goal. At 1-3 down, Ashford won a PC which was slipped to Paul Tickner on the post for a difficult bouncing ball finish. Trailing by just the one goal, we began to take control of the game pushing for the equaliser. A good finish from a breakaway saw the visitors steal another goal as the game finished as a 2-4 defeat.
