The Great Lane Robbery

The 'Toes' hosted WHHC at the lane on a quest to get back to winning ways and brighten up our spirits on the wettest and coldest of days.

We welcomed Olly Coombes to the team in true 'Toes' stylie, making him speak about himself for a minute or two adding a fun fact about himself. Amusingly or concernedly, you decide, Olly, an Oxbridge Mathematics candidate failed to open the changing room door getting his X and Y round the wrong way wasn't the best start to the day along with Digger leaving his Astros at home, you get the drift!

Parker delivered a simple team talk, to the point, keep the ball and don't lose, famous last words aye!

The oppo began string pressing us hard and going an early goal up quickly followed by a second through indecision and sloppy defending. Things picked up soon after and we had lots of chances and PC's restoring a bit of faith.

Croxon scored with a well worked PC then it was the turn of Steve Taylor to get us our mandatory p-flick which Crox stood up to be counted as he has all season calmly slotting it top left to make a game of it.

With the Red and Blacks tails up, Olly made a surging run into the D and scored a perfectly good tomahawk to make it 3-2 to us or so we thought!!!!!

A 16 was given and in the melee the oppo attacked. Still punch drunk, confusion at the back ensued with Olly being mistaken for the plum up front for them and was sent flying as they tapped in for an undeserved winner.

The 'Toes' were wet and soggy but still managed to cheer on the 3's on the grave yard shift to watch the other Taylor score a hatrick, oh his sister scored as well. A big thanks to Shah, Digger and Macca for staying around to umpire in true club style. The rest of us supporting the club in the bar and from the side line.
